Hey, here's an email I got from Rini's dear friend from Relief Society, Vicki, on Sept. 7th:

I visited with Rini yesterday and really enjoyed it. I was glad to see that her cast is off. She is such a special lady. Thanks for the updates. Rini told me again how much she loves and appreciates all you are doing for her. Have a great Labor Day Holiday. Vicki
Hi everyone!! Rini is loving those chocolates and burgers, but more importantly, your conversations. Although she keeps the details to herself, she always talks about how meaningful your time together is. I know I totally chill and lose myself when she and I sit out on the front porch, talking, and sometimes, not saying a word.

I'll be going to San Fran this Monday through Wednesday, but am still reachable by cell. Rini took another fall today in the bathroom. She seemed alright, but I will try to give her a call every day while I am gone. Feel free to check up on her too! Look forward to reading your entries here!

Hey, does anyone know how to spell-check on this blog? I so need it! Luv ya!

Visit with Tante Rini Saturday, September 5, 2009

Picked up my mom and we went and got some dark chocolate truffles and orange dark chocolate for Tante Rini. We tried a couple of times to call her before our visit to see if what we could bring her to eat, but she did not answer her phone, so we both knew she loved dark chocolate so that's what we brought her! She was very happy to see us. She introduced us to her room mate...a very nice lady! We changed her clothes and got her into her wheelchair and went around the center. We enjoyed looking around at the birds, fish and artwork! Then we went out front on the patio and visited. It was nice that the weather was cooler today....it made for a pleasant visit outside! She was glad she did not have to wear her cast as much. Her arm was looking better...but still pretty fragile. We enjoyed our time with her and her spirits were good...as always it was hard to leave her!

I will be stopping in today.

I went last Friday for a lunch visit I took her a fish Sandhich from Carl's Jr. and we had a lovely visit her arm looked much better. I am going to go back today to bring her a few of Uncle Bob's old movies on VHS I told her I had a few good old shirley temple movies etc. that I would bring by and she seemed interested. She is effusive in her gratitude for all of the help and the outward expressions of love and concern.
MY VISIT WITH RINI ON WED.:

Joseph, Rocky, and I visited Rini on Wed. Joseph brought Arby burgers, fries, Pepsi, and a mocha freeze. We took Rini out in her wheelchair to the front rose pavilion and we ate and enjoyed our dinner. Rocky sat on a chair next to Rini and begged for bites of roast beef from her. It was so funny and she loved it!
Rini has been having high blood pressure for a few weeks, so Sandy Regional increased her bold pressure medication, which has helped, but not completely. When we brought Rini back to her room from our visit, her blood pressure was wonderfully low. It looks like pleasant meals in the garden are good medicine!
She would love visits from children, since she is surrounded by elderly ailing people all day. She loves her therapists because they are young, joking, and so positive!
Annette went to Rini's appointment this week with her surgeon to check on her elbow. It is healing just fine. He said that her injury needs about three months of rehab, and she has been there for about a month, now.

So your visits and positive distractions will mean a lot for these weeks!

Monday afternoon visit with Rini

I went to see Rini today I took her a Pepsi and helped her find the channel on her TV most likely to play movies she might enjoy Channel 38 AMC. She had her arm unwrapped and while it was very bruised it looked like she was getting quite a bit of use and mobility with that arm. SHE IS VERY GRATEFUL FOR ALL OF THE ATTENTION.
